Materials for Health and Safety: HPL
Designing for health and safety is not a new topic of conversation, though for many, it's an increasingly important one. While no one knows exactly how Covid-19 will impact the design of our public spaces in the long term, the abundance of data pertaining to cleanability that's already accessible to us can illuminate the many ways we can design for a healthier future.

High-Pressure Laminate (HPL)

Certified by the Scientific Equipment and Furniture Association (SEFA 8 Standard) for use in medical facilities and laboratories, HPL is a popular choice for its chemical-resistance. It can be cleaned with bleach or any cleaning agent recommended by the CDC for disinfecting against COVID-19 and withstands repeated sanitizing.

Cleanability is one of many reasons we offer HPL as a surface material for our Cafe Tables. It is also sustainably made at a BIFMA level certified facility that uses renewable energy produced on-site to heat their presses, and it can be used both indoors and outdoors. Flexible furniture that can be used in various ways according to our evolving needs will enable us to adapt to the changing situation.

HPL is available on all Cafe Series bases. To see all of our Cafe Tables, click here.
