RAD Studio: Intelligentsia Coffee in Venice, CA

RAD Studio: Intelligentsia Coffee in Venice, CA
Intelligentsia first opened its doors on Abbot Kinney in Venice, California in 2007. Since then, this iconic coffee house has established itself as a community hub, loved by locals and visitors alike.
RAD Studio led the redesign of the outdoor patio and interior, while retaining the industrial feel and respecting the rich history of the beloved space.

These custom stepped planters, designed and built by RAD, create separation between seated customers enjoying their coffee and those still waiting to order. The plants were selected and installed by noted landscape architecture firm Terremoto.
Just inside the front door, RAD shelves create cozy seating nooks and allow merchandise to be seen prior to the point of sale.

The coffee house's seating capacity was doubled by integrating benches. Inside and out, steel frame benches are topped with black locust wood planks, a sustainably sourced domestic hardwood. Durable and efficient oval tables are affixed to the benches.
Custom trash enclosures include storage and provide a place for guests to add cream and sugar to their coffees.
